Barry Hawkins feels final match against Peter Ebdon will be tough: 2012 Australian Goldfields Open
Winner of the 2012 Snooker Shootout event, England’s Barry Hawkins displayed impressive snooker skills in the semi-final encounter of the 2012 Australian Goldfields Open snooker tournament at the Bendigo Stadium arena in Victoria and booked his place in
the final clash of the event.
The Englishman will face the former winner of the World Snooker Championship and the 2012 China Open snooker event, Peter Ebdon in the final encounter of the Aussie event. About his final battle against Ebdon, Hawkins believes that the clash will definitely
be one of the toughest games of the tournament because Ebdon is a classy player and he never gives up during his game.
In his post match interview with World Snooker, Hawkins said, “Going into the final against Peter Ebdon, it can't get much tougher to be honest, he just doesn't give in, he doesn't give anything less than 100 per cent on every shot. I'm definitely going
to have to be at the top of my form, I know what I have got to do and hopefully I can produce on the day.”
Hawkins was up against the winner of the 2012 Six-Red World Championship, compatriot Mark Davis in the penultimate encounter and defeated him by the score line of 6-4. Hawkins was outstanding against Davis in the first session of the match and finished it
with 3-1 lead over his fellow countryman. However, Davis bounced back in the second session with two frame wins but it was not enough to stop Hawkins from winning.
Hawkins added, “Mark should have won that, I was 50 odd behind and he got a kick on a red with four reds left and I made a good clearance.”
The spectators present at the arena were expecting some fireworks at the baize from both potters and the pair did play the same way providing the audience with some great snooker moments. The pair displayed the best of their snooker genius during the semi-final
proceedings which made the game worth watching.
It will be exciting to see Hawkins and Ebdon battle it out in the final as both players are definitely in decent form and will be looking to put in a good performance to take the top honour of the tournament.
