Barry Hearn: World Snooker is aiming to raise £120,000 for Haven House Children’s Hospice
World Snooker has always been at the forefront of helping different charity organisations over the years. This time, World Snooker Chairman Barry Hearn is aiming to collect £120,000 for Haven House
Children’s Hospice. Hearn visited the hospice on Thursday, July 14 and spent some time with the children there.
Barry Hearn has been helping the charity organisation for many years and visits the hospice quite often. In his recent visit on Thursday, July 14, Hearn revealed his aim to collect £120,000 for the
hospice to bring more initiatives in helping special children live a normal life. Hearn was briefed about different projects of the organisation before he met children and their families.
Speaking to the media during his visit to the hospice, Hearn said, “I am absolutely delighted to be able to support such a wonderful charity that makes a massive difference to the lives of children
and their families. We are working with Haven House on a range of exciting initiatives and are aiming to raise a minimum of £120,000 in the next year.”
On the other hand, the director of nursing at the hospice, Christine Twomey added, “This is an extremely significant relationship for us. It will have a significant impact on the work we do and we
look forward to working closely with World Snooker over the coming months.”
The snooker chief also watched a musical therapy session where children used rhythms and sounds to communicate with each other. A spokesman at the hospice told Hearn that many of their children are
unable to communicate with others so they have music to do the job and the children also enjoy expressing themselves through music.
The snooker governing body has aided several charities before. Around two months ago, World Snooker aimed to raise £250,000 for KILLING Cancer charity. World Snooker started the campaign on the eve
of World Snooker Awards and Hall of Fame at Dorchester Hotel in London on Friday, May 6. Snooker boss, Hearn, was delighted to be a part of the campaign.
