Barry Hearn excited to have Betfair on board as PTC sponsor – Snooker News
Top guns of snooker will gather at the Bailey Allen Hall arena in Galway, Ireland to take part in the 2011-12 Players Tour Championship (PTC) Grand Finals. The event will be sponsored by one of the most renowned betting sites, Betfair. The World Snooker
Chairman, Barry Hearn is quite excited to have Betfair as the sponsors of the event.
Speaking to the World Snooker forum during the press conference, Hearn said, “We are very pleased to bring on board Betfair, the world's biggest international online sports betting company, as title sponsor for this prestigious tournament. Betfair is a fantastic
company to be working with and I'm sure they will enjoy five days of top quality snooker.”
The snooker chief added, “It's a superb line up for the event and we're expecting great live support from the Irish fans. The PTC Series has run across the whole season and now the players at the business end are chasing the £70,000 top prize.”
Director of European and Emerging Markets, Matt Robinson was also present on the occasion and expressed his excitement saying that Betfair is honoured to be the sponsors of PTC Grand Finals.
The PTC was one of the initiatives taken by Hearn at the time he joined World Snooker as the chairman to promote the sport across the World. Before Hearn became chairman; the game of snooker did not have many tournaments in the calendar and was not watched
globally because of limited snooker events. Hearn changed the face of the game with some astounding steps.
The 2011-12 PTC Grand Finals will commence from March 14 at the Irish venue. The Irish snooker fans have always been quite hospitable to the snooker players. The 2012 Haikou World Open runner up, England’s Stephen Lee said that he always enjoyed playing
in Ireland because the people there are so friendly and welcoming.
PTC finals will feature the likes of 2011 UK Championship winner, England’s Judd Trump, former World Snooker Champion Neil Robertson, 2012 German Masters Champion Ronnie O’Sullivan, 2012 Welsh Open winner Ding Junhui, the current World Snooker Champion John
Higgins, 2012 Snooker Shootout Champion Barry Hawkins and the World Number one Mark Selby.
