Barry Hearn wants Ronnie O’Sullivan to be happy with or without snooker in his life – Snooker News
There is not a single snooker event that has ended without the former three-time World Snooker Champion Ronnie O’Sullivan being in the news. At one place, he is brawling with the World Snooker Chairman Barry Hearn and at the other he is involved in some
kind of controversy. In the recently finished 2012 China Open, the legendary potter was caught once again in another controversy after he smoked during his post match press conference.
He faced a lot of criticism in the past for his language and behaviour. He even had verbal brawls with Barry Hearn in the past over the format changes in the tournaments and some disciplinary issues. Smoking during a press conference in China was way beyond
normal mishaps which really pushed him to the edge and people including Hearn were not happy with his actions.
Despite the fact that Hearn was not happy with what O’Sullivan did in the past, he wants the Rocket to be happy whether he is in the snooker or out of it for good. He admitted that he loves him like his son and has known him when he was only 12-years-old.
Regardless of his affiliation with O’Sullivan, Hearn reminds that rules are same for everyone, even for O’Sullivan.
Speaking to the Press Association Sport, Hearn said, “I've known Ronnie since he was 12 years old and I love him almost like another son. But he has days when I could throttle him and you never know which Ronnie is turning up. I just want Ronnie to be happy,
whether that involves snooker or not is his call.”
The snooker boss added, “If it involves snooker there are rules he has got to play by. If it doesn't, we'll have a meal and a beer or two and talk about tennis, golf, football or whatever else he wants to talk about, but at the end of the day if you're in
it you've got to be in it 100%.”
Meanwhile, current snooker season is about to end with the finish of the 2012 World Snooker Championship at the Crucible Theatre. Potters from around the world are anxiously awaiting their turn to play under Crucible ceiling to fulfil their dreams. O’Sullivan
is also ready to make an appearance in the Championship with all his abilities.
