Barry Hearn wants strict action against Mark Allen if found guilty: 2012 World Snooker Championship
Northern Ireland’s Mark Allen failed to improvise according to the situation and tumbled down against the Chinese debutant, Cao Yupeng by the score line of 10-6 in the opening round of the 2012 World Snooker Championship at the Crucible Theatre in Sheffield.
After his defeat at the hands of a mere rookie, Allen spoke out loud against the Chinese potter and accused him of a blatant push during their first round clash.
Not only that, the Northern Irishman also called the Chinese as ‘cheaters’ and said that he lost the game because of a blatant push by Yupeng. Meanwhile, his remarks were not taken lightly and certain action against Allen is being expected soon because the
World Snooker Chairman, Barry Hearn took notice of that and he has requested World Professional Billiards and Snooker Association not to show any tolerance.
While speaking to the media, Hearn said, “This is zero tolerance. We have the powers to do anything providing we've acted reasonably. It's a fine, a potential suspension, or a ban. That's why our recommendation is that if he's found guilty this time I would
expect the WPBSA to take a more serious approach at the level of fines.”
He added, “How far do we go until the players understand their responsibility to the game? There comes a point when you have to say enough is enough. And I'm trusting the WPBSA disciplinary system to take that into account.”
Allen and Hearn have had verbal brawls in the past as well. In the current season, the noticeable clash between the two was seen when Allen criticised Hearn for changing the format of the 2011 UK Championship. Allen wanted the UK Championship untouched by
Hearn. However, the matter was sorted out between both of them as Hearn went to Allen for the settlement.
After that, the Antrim potter spoke ill words about the playing environment saying that the conditions were horrendous when he went to China to participate in the 2012 Haikou World Open. He also had to face a lot of criticism by the Chinese snooker fans
and the people around the world. It will be interesting to see what action is taken against Allen for his unfortunate remarks.
