Barry Hearn wants to win World Snooker Championship – Snooker News
World Snooker Chairman, Barry Hearn is currently working on increasing the viewership of snooker across the world and so far he has been quite successful in accomplishing his goal. Since he grabbed the World Snooker Chairman seat in 2009, he has been on
the move to make snooker one of the biggest sports in the world. However, there is another ambition he has and that is to win the World Snooker Champion as a snooker player.
Everybody in the snooker world knows about Hearn’s snooker eye and they admit that his initiatives have given snooker a boost in the world. The game is now recognised around the globe and many new players are emerging from the regions where snooker was not
given any importance. Besides having a great snooker addiction, Hearn also desires to be a snooker player and win many snooker tournaments especially the World Snooker Championship.
While speaking to the Press Association Sport, Hearn said about his plans, “I'm working my cods off all the time. I don't even think of it as work. It's my pleasure, my absolute pleasure. I've done seven countries in the past two weeks. And I don't see any
reason to stop, because if there's a market out there, I want to own that market.”
The chairman added, “If I was a snooker player, I'd want to win the World Championship. It's the same sort of thing, it's a game. I get a bit peeved when players moan about working, and a few have done it. Burn-out? I laugh when I hear things like that.
Burn-out in snooker? Come on.”
Hearn still keeps his personal record of every major snooker events and on the other hand, he is aiming to reach other continents to introduce and promote snooker. So far, he has covered seven countries for this purpose where snooker is a major sport now.
Meanwhile, he introduced new tournaments in the snooker calendar so that the television viewers can watch the game. Some fast-formatted events have brought in the young generations and the youth is now more inclined towards the game as they are even participating
in local tournaments in their countries.
