  1. time will tell if he knows how to adapt to the new nature of the game...but i think he will do just fine seeing hows hes watched pleanty of games...melrose will let vinny and st louis show there talent

  2. He will take them to the Stanley Cup Finals where they will lose in 5 games. Then in the next 2 seasons he will miss the play offs, get fired, and retire from coaching. 15 years later he will go on Pardon the Interuption and say he misses coaching and will entertain any offers.

  3. only as far as the dead horse can carry them

  4. Hopefully they'll do well enough to not place last again.

  5. Not too bad, because they got Stamkos

  6. It will be cool if they make the playoffs.  Maybe Melrose will have the team sport playoff mullets instead of beards.

  7. Only time will tell. Barry is a motivated guy, so he'll bring a fresh new prospective to TB. I think they'll miss the playoffs, but feel they will improve from last year.

  8. I would gues poorly. Stamkos isnt like past number one picks, who had the ability to turn a franchise around. And I dont think Tortorella was the problem so I dont know how much of a difference a new coach will make. They are in the Eastern Conference though, where teams have no defense and play inconsistant hockey so anything can happen.

  9. I dont think he will do anything special. I thought the other coach Tortarelli (spelling) was a great coach and he couldn't do much this season or last. I don't see them making it past the first round in the playoffs, if they make it. They will have  okay record but nothing special.

  10. I think they will win their division and be back in the playoffs, probably going pretty deep....I won't say a Stanley Cup win though.

Barry Melrose will help but this team is already established (last year they had tons of injuries and a goalie issue), that's why a player's coach like Melrose will be great.  He is also bringing Troccket with him how is considered one of the best assistants in the NHL

Tampa's success won't be squarely on the acquisition of Melrose, it is also going to be on the fact that they are aggressively seaching for a top wing man to put on Stamkos' line, looking for a #1 Goalie - probably Emery who I don't like but he fits into an offensive team scheme, got Prospal back, secured Vinny for 9 years, and will also look to pick up 2 D-Men to support Boyle, Kuba, and O'Brien.

  11. I don't think they'll do any better.  I actually can't see Barry behind the bench.  He seems like too much of a joke on sportscenter.
