Barry Murphy acquires Men's 50m breast-stroke gold medal: Day two – 2011 Pro Dual Meet 1
Barry J Murphy acquired the title of Men's 50m breast-stroke on day two of the 2011 Pro Dual Meet 1, on Thursday, November 17. The meet is a two day competition and is scheduled at the University of Michigan Pool.
The 25-year-old Murphy of East devastated hopes of his competitors in the Men's 50m event. He faced strong resistance from his competitors in the single-lap event but with his gruelling efforts and eagerness, he overwhelmed his competitors on the finishing end.
Alex R Hetland of West tried his best to pass him in the one-lap breast-stroke swim but he failed to answer Murphy’s astonishing effort in the second half. 
He claimed the title of breast-stroke event by clocking a time of 28.12 seconds. The gold medallist was trailed by Hetland, who remained 0.04 seconds slower from him on the finishing end and ended second with a timing of 28.16 seconds.
The 28-year-old Hetland edged out his competitor and Murphy's team-member, Christopher Burckle, who was just 0.74 seconds behind him and reached the podium for bronze medal with a timing of 28.90 seconds.
The fourth spot of the race was obtained by George R Bovell of West, who remained 0.09 seconds slower from his former finisher on the finishing wall, clocking a time of 28.99 seconds.
Similarly, the 28-year-old Bovell was just 0.51 seconds ahead of his subsequent rival, Elliott A Keefer of West, who concluded his swim with a fifth fastest time of 29.50 seconds.
In the meantime, Nelson O Westby of West, who was 0.05 seconds slower than his preceding swimmer, hit the wall with a timing of 29.55 seconds for sixth position. He was trailed by his East’s Nick J Brunelli, who concluded his swim in the seventh fastest time of 30.04 seconds.
The crowd appreciated marvellous efforts of all finalists, who tried to seize a podium finish. In addition, the winners were awarded medals and accolades for their incredible swims in the breast-stroke discipline after the conclusion of session.
