Barry Murphy announces his retirement – Rugby news
Barry Murphy, who was committed to Munster as a centre for a long period of time has been announced retirement from his rugby career.
Munster rugby club confirmed the news today that Murphy would be retiring due to his consistent foot problem that he is trying to get rid of for long now.
The news has brought two more surprises, as Ian Dowling and Alan Quinlan have also been hinted to be leaving the Rugby field forever. It is just an inside report which has to be confirmed yet.
Barry Murphy said, “People say to me I've been unlucky and while I appreciate what they mean I don't see it that way. The past 7/8 years have been a wonderful time in my life, playing with Munster. I've made loads of friends here in this squad, enjoyed some
great times and I wouldn't trade a moment of it.”
Brian Barry Murphy is an Irish rugby player who plays at professional level in League One for Rochdale in England. The 32-year-old player has been playing at number six and as a midfielder for his side. His previous professional rugby teams were Sheffield
Wednesday, Cork City and Preston North End. He played internationally at Under 21 level for Ireland in 2003. Brian Barry Murphy is son to the famous Gaelic football player, Jimmy Barry Murphy.
Murphy has earned 71 caps for his current club Munster and scored twelve tries. He has scored one of the memorable tries against All Blacks in 2008 and scored six tries in the European Cup.
As we see Murphy leaving with chances of Quinlan and Dowling to leave as well, Laurie Fisher has been confirmed to join Munster. Jake White, the World Cup winning coach will be joined by Laurie Fisher, as his side will take on Brumbies on his comeback to
his hometown.
