Barry Wicks wins the stage 2 of the Trans Sylvania Epic 2012, Men category
Barry Wicks of Team Kona wins the second stage of the Trans-Sylvania and restricted the race favourites after his tremendous performance during the event.
He crossed the finish line in a quickest time of 2 hours, 58 minutes and 37 seconds with Jeremiah Bishop of Team Cannondale, Drew Edsall of Team Kenda / Felt and Aaron Snyder of Team Scott Pro Mountain finished at the second, the third and the fourth positions
in the respective order.
The cyclist launched his attack in the final kilometres of the race and showed splendid legs to bag an important stage win.
"I didn't attack until that final point. I accelerated and I knew he couldn't catch me before the finish." said Wicks after crossing the line as the victor of stage 2,” Barry noted.
“I felt really good on the trails today, and I was able to push the pace after getting a feel for the field".
Jeremiah Bishop finished 14 seconds behind and occupied the second spot, "I had a few small issues today, slippery rocks and some bike problems".
"Today was the hardest stage, but this competition is all about consistency and I'll be ready to come out strong again tomorrow," he concluded.
