The midfielder went on to pick up an injury prior to the start of the Euro 2012 and this injury ruled him out of action from the competition. However, it seems like his injury is a whole lot more serious then it was initially believed to be.
The thirty one year old is set to meet with a number of specialists, as he looks to get his torn muscle in his abdomen looked at.
At the moment, nothing has been confirmed, but Barry could require surgery, which could see him get ruled out for an extended period of time.

Many experts are surprised by the fact that City waited so long to have the player get his stomach looked at by an expert. This is because if the injury is serious, a surgery would be the only option left for the team.
Once that does happen, Barry will be forced to sit on the sidelines for quite some time. As a result, its confusing as to why the club delayed the decision for so long.
Nonetheless, what we do know for a fact, is that Barry is going to continue to play in the City jersey in the future.
