Bartending-School’s Referral system really works?

I'm moving to New York next month, and I prefer to take a bartending course here in San Fran so that I can look into work as soon as I move. However SF Schools don't have so much information for NY job positions. Is this the major tool for “Beginner” to job hunt?

i have been a bartender for various places and the schools are a joke- you dont need a school to bartend.  you can go get an idiots guide to bartending book or any other book.  some restaurants require you work your way up from server to bartender.  and most new places you dont even have to rmbr what goes in what.  when you touch the button for what drink they want the how to make it instructions comes up. the most important thing about getting hired is looking good (im not joking)
