Barcelona’s vice president, Josep Maria Bartomeu, has expressed that the club will offer Eric Abidal a new contract once his fitness issues are behind. The Spaniard added that the veteran defender is an experienced athlete and an important part of the squad.

"Abidal's contract renewal is all ready, and he will put ink to paper once he has played his first game again,” Bartomeu told Rac-1.
The French footballer was allowed to lift the UEFA Champions League trophy the last time they triumphed in the tournament in 2010.
