Based on the studies of isolated, institutionalized and feral children, do children really need parents to develop normally? Is it necessary for infants to be around adult beings in order to become"human themselves?

  1. absolutely.  it has been proven that just the human touch can be beneficial.  children need human interaction, love, compassion, instruction.  i could go on and on.  and i think the lack of even one of these things could and do make a difference.  some things lacking may be more easily overcome than others.  but basically what you are asking is do children need parents.  i would say yes.  do they need good parents even more, yes to that as well.  they need more than to be fed and clothes and groomed like an animal.  intelligence, personality traits, compassion, empathy, morals, etc. etc. are all influenced by our parents.  some genetic deficiencies i think could possibly be overcome by the right parenting skills.  answer. yes yes yes and yes again.

  2. Yes children need parents whether it be biological or adoptive parents. As a child I was brought up by my grandmother with the help of my aunts my sister and brother on the other hand was mostly brought up by my mental ill mother and their abusive father my brother is in prison and my sister has the same problems my mother has and I have had my own problems, but have overcome them and am in my sophomore year in college but it took me time to realize what i wanted to do with my life because i felt abandoned by both of my parents I am still better off then my sister and brother because i did have my grandmother and aunts who love me and kept me safe. even though I did not always listen to them

  3. I believe the answer is yes children esp. infants  need adults or parents to provide their needs  and supervise them what is good and must be avoid so they would develop  healthy and normal lifestyle later on in their adulthood.

There is a lot of factors that would affect a trait of a person that includes his/her family, environment, religion, culture, government and etc... before any factors affects to a child the family it has would affect more that is why parents and guardians take good care of their children to make sure everything is provided and supervise properly because when they get old this children would take good care for them in return.

  4. Based on the studies of highly deprived orphans I would say YES.  Children generally need parents (or other guardians) to develop normally.  They need their warmth.  They need to interact with them.  These factors are important in children's emotional and social development.

I'm not sure about the second question.

  5. Parents no, but someone to love them and give them a sense of safety and self esteem.
