Baseball Commissioner Bud Selig to review blockbuster deal – MLB Update
Reports are coming that the Major League Baseball commissioner Bud Selig will review the recent blockbuster deal with the Miami Marlins and Toronto Blue Jays which especially shocked many in the Miami camp.
Miami Marlins with high expectations started the 2012 Major League Baseball season in their newly built $634 million ballpark. They also hoped that this recent past season will turn out to be a great success for them.
However, with all these high hopes and expectations, the 2012 MLB competition brought them disappointment. They failed to qualify for the post-season and finished at bottom in their respective Division.
Considering all these facts and with a new development of an ambitious trade with the Toronto Blue Jays, the Miami Marlins’ are under review by the chief baseball authority Bud Selig.
Selig is still not convinced how the Marlins’ top management played their cards when they traded some of their best players to the Blue Jays.
The fans reaction plus undisclosed money involved in the recent trades are the key points which have to be addressed in the media.
Selig, an experienced individual and possesses great understanding regarding big franchise trades and different prospects dealings.
During the recent MLB owners conference, many reporters asked Selig different questions on this recent trade between the Blue Jays and Miami Marlins.
“People have different views of that as to what you should do and how you should do it, but I think I’ve been able to come through all these situations and the sport’s been stronger and better as a result,” Selig replied in detail.
He added, “So when I say I have this matter under review and I’ve talked to a lot of our people and I’ve spent a lot of time here in between all the other meetings — this is a tough place to do it — that’s exactly what I mean. It is under review. I am aware of the anger.”
With this blockbuster trade, the Miami side sent three of their very best players in exchange of several Blue Jays' prospects.
Experts believe that though Selig has a point to prove here, but still he cannot do much as Blue Jays and Miami both initiated this trade with mutual consent.
