Baseball batting and 1st baseman trouble. ?

i am 14 and 5'7 and for my high school jv team which is 1 month away i want to play 1st base i play once and a while but now every game so i need to know how you are suppose to scoop the ball where are you suppose to keep the glove to get ready to scoop it. also how can i be more flexible so i can stretch even farther.

and for batting i am hittign to much grounders i am hitting them hard but right at the player i want to hit more line drives so plz help also after i make contact i make the back leg L but i slide my back foot to my front foot right when i make contact i don't know why i do it so plz help.

  1. To key to first base is to not commit yourself too soon.  Try to read the throw.  If it's going to be a low throw get your glove right above the ground and pointing down.  It's easier to bring your glove up than it is to bring it down.  For regular throws make sure you step to where the throw is going and with you glove foot (if your left handed, step with your right foot).  Only stretch if you need to.  The best way to be more flexible is by stretching out before the game.  If you have a friend or brother that can help you then bring him to a field and throw them grounders and have them make low and wide throws so you can get used to them.

    As far as hitting, if you're hitting everything into the ground that means you're either hitting the top of the ball or you're swing down.  To correct that either swing a little lower so you're hitting the bottom to middle of the ball or try to level your swing.
