Baseball commissioner Bud Selig silent on A’s new home – MLB News
The Major League Baseball commissioner Bud Selig is still keeping his silence on Oakland Athletics’ new home potentially in San Jose.
After almost 39 months, the issue of Oakland Athletics relocation to San Jose is still awaiting a decision by the Major League but the authorities have done nothing except forming a three person committee regarding analysing the crux of existing problems. The three member committee still seeks potential legal boundaries to cover.
While a recent comment of Bud Selig has further complicated the situation especially for those who were seeking a potential answer from him. Selig explained why the three member committee could not find any solution for his prevailing issue and said, "The main hang-up is, we don't have the answers."
Selig attended a meeting where he addressed Baseball Writers' Association of America and explained the situation of the A’s relocation issues.
He described that some more serious and complicated issues have not been resolved yet and the process still needs some time to make things right for both parties.
The main issue was highlighted by the San Francisco Giants’ organisation when they resisted agreeing on A’s relocation to San Jose. The city comes under Giants territory and A’s are by law not allowed to move in another franchise’s jurisdiction.
"We're asking a lot of questions to both parties, and we'll continue to ask questions until we get all the answers," Selig said, "and frankly, both clubs right now need to answer a lot of questions for us on many subjects."
Recent news had also alarmed many in the A’s franchise. After hearing much about the A’s move, Sacramento’s mayor Kevin Johnson stepped up and presented a potential offer to Athletics’ owner to move into the city.
However, soon this idea was rejected by the A’s co-owner Lew Wolff.
"We are not leaving the Bay Area, and that's the end of it. The only focus we have is San Jose," Wolff said.
While ending the conversation with the Baseball Writers' Association of America on the A’s potential new home, Bud Selig hoped for a better future for the Athletics but still did not reply on certain questions due to different organisational reasons.
