Who has been the Jays cy young. Halladay's numbers are obviously better and good enough for the American League Cy young shot. And if he played as many games as burnett (2 more )he would probably be tied with 15 wins for the Jays. And probably be tied or lead the Jays in K's. Also did playing with the Jays bad offence block Halladay form having more than 1 cy young maybe 2 3 or 4 even?

  1. Interesting question.

First of all, as good of a season Halladay is having, you have to admit as long as he keeps things up, Cliff Lee is on top of the Cy Young competition. Holliday could possibly the runner-up or 3rd place in the voting.

As for the bad offence issue, I think it could possibly had an impact, especially since wins and your overall record are a factor in the voting. (Being a San Francisco Giants fan, I definitely understand crappy run support.) However, if you look at the past couple years, their have been pitchers definitely better than Halladay anyways. Sure Halladay has been very consistent, but excluding the 2003 cy young season, their have been pitchers each year with oustanding seasons.

    For example:

2007 - Beckett and Sabathia were amazing

2006 - Santana just strikes out a ton more (and more wins which Halladay could have lost because of low run support)

    2005 & 2004 - Halladay has short (injury filled I believe) seasons

I do hope Halladay wins another cy young whether it be this year or another one. He is just extremely consistent, and I love the fact that he's like the old timers, giving you so many innings and complete games.

  2. Halladays one of the best pitchers in baseball...He prolly could have more Cy Youngs if the Blue Jays didn't suck.
