  1. strengthen you legs, and work on your shoulders. And just throw farther and farther every time you practice.

  2. You said you wanted serious answers only. So this is what you should do. Get out there and try long tosses and try to strengthen your core muscles (Back, legs and arms) Just do that and you will see a change in speed. But you have to do it every day.

  3. First of all, don't listen to most of the answers given so far.

Let me tell you why you should listen to me and my answer. Quick bio. I've played baseball for 20+ years. I was an all-american, all-region outfielder in high school, set many records in strikeouts in college and high school. Threw 90+ mph from the left side and had a wicked curveball.

But lets get down to business. You are somewhat small for your age but don't let that get you down. For example, Dan Uggla is pretty small and look how good he is. You said, you primarily play catcher and third base. Two positions that demand a good arm and must be good defensively.

1.) I agree with one of the answers saying you need to long toss, but not everyday. Long toss every other day. So we'll just say about 4 times per week. When long tossing, don't throw pop-up. Throw line drives or frozen ropes. Your arm will never get stronger by throwing rainbows. Long tossing can significantely strengthen your arm.

2.)  Jobe's exercises - Jobe's bands are elastic bands that strengthen the rotator cuff (its in your shoulder). By strengthening your shoulder, you will be able to recover faster and throw harder.

3.) Throw a weighted baseball. You can buy a heavyer training baseball at like sports authority or baseball express. By throwing a heavyer ball your arm will strengthen in its throwing muscles.

4.) When practicing at third base, throw the ball from the third hole. Over time the shorter throws will beome easier. At a MLB tryout, all infielder take groundballs fron the third base hole. The scouts do this to see the strength of the infielders arm.

5.) As a catcher, I feel the most important think is speed and quick hands, with arm strength as a second most important thing.

Thats just a few things that will help you in your arm strengthening. Good Luck.

P.S.  Th most sought over position by MLB scouts are catchers following by pitchers. Because of the position being so injury proned. Good Luck.

  4. Work with light weight, lots of reps to build up your arm strength.  You are not looking for mass, but endurance and speed.  Also work on getting rid of the ball quickly...a quick release is better than a fast throw.  It does not matter how fast you throw, if the ball is still in your hand.  Good luck.

  5. Flexibility, mechanics, and a wood bat will get you on your way to becoming a better hitter. Now before you look away from this let me explain. I can bet good money that you are not as flexible as a gymnast so until you are you have not done your job on making yourself flexible, which will make it easier for your body to move when you hit and throw the ball and also run the bases.

Now for mechanics, you have to video tape your throwing and hitting mechanics and learn where you are making errors in the motion. Watch video of how Major League ballplayers hit the ball (go to www.mlb.com or www.youtube.com or google search "MLB First Year Player Draft") and take the quality basics of their mechanics in the videos and apply it to how you hit the baseball. For more info click here http://theprospect09.googlepages.com and see "Hitting With Success" and "Why You Should Hit With Wood."

Good luck with the training! Feel free to email me if you have any questions at theprospect09@gmail.com. Look forward to talking with you.

  6. if u wanna throw faster you need to work out lift weights and build arm strength, you should just stick to a position that your good at and feel comfortable at

  7. If you are good, and you know it, do anything you can to play AAU, and get in w/ the high school coaches.  If you just play little league, or rec ball, you will not make it anywhere really no matter how good you are.  I found this out the hard way, once you get to playing junior high and high school baseball it becomes politics.  if you haven't played w/ the guys at the school, in the same social class etc, you stand less of a chance of making it then those who have.

  8. first would be a good position to go for and to increase throwing power try using a weighted baseball but first loosen your arm with a regular ball i did this about an hour and a half before each game for about a month and i am throwing a lot faster

  9. Practice batting. When you're a good batter you can play whatever position you want.

  10. The easiest position to play in baseball in my opinion is First Base. You look like you could be a mini Prince Fielder. Now if you want to increase you throwing power you need to work on your cardio and do some swimming. That will loosen your arm motions. then you could do some chin ups or push ups. good Luck Kid.
