  1. Whip is the ratio of Hits and walks to innings pitched.

    A balk is when a pitcher commits to going to home (with a runner on base) and breaks his movement (typically to throw over to 1st base)

    10 runs in 1 inning would equate to 90 runs over 9 innings and that's what ERA is based on, how many runs you would give up in 9 innings.

  2. 1. walk to hits per inning pitched...

    2. a balk is an illegal move/pitch such as flinching, stepping off the mound with the wrong foot, stopping in the middle of your delivery, not coming completely set, dropping the ball while in set position etc.

    3. they have a 90.00 era because they gave up ten run in one inning which there are nine innings in a game so they multply 10 runs bye innings in a game no inning pitched

  3. whip = (walks + hits) / innings pitched

    A balk is when the pitcher commits to throwing home but does a pickoff moe instead. The runner is awarded 1 base when this happens.

    ERA = runs allowed per 9 innings. If a pitcher gives up 10 runs in 1 inning, 10 x 9 = 90.00.

  4. WHIP= Walks plus hits per inning pitched.That is a measurement of the number of baserunners a pitcher has allowed per inning pitched

    illegal motions or actions taken place on the mound.There are various amount of illegal actions you can take. When a balk takes place,the baserunners move up a base.(http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Balk)

    Because ERA is the number of earned runs given up by a pitcher per nine innings pitched. ERA= 9 x ER ÷ IP

  5. 1. Walk and Hits per Innings Pitched

    2. a balk is when a pitcher makes an illegal move on the mound ie coming set twice, not coming set at all, decieving the runner

    3. era stands for earned run average which is computed how many earned runs the pitcher gave up per 9 innings so its possible that he gave up the ten runs in very little innings to have a 90 ERA

  6. 1- WHIP is Walks and Hits divided by innings pitched and is reflected as a ratio based on 9 innings pitched.  For example: If a pitcher goes 5 innings and gives up 4 hits and 2 walks that would be 6 divided by 5 and a WHIP of 1.20.

    2- A Balk is called on the pitcher for any one of many illegal moves on the pitching mound used to deceive a base runner.  When a Balk occurs all base runners advance one base.

    3- ERA is also a ratio based on 9 innings pitched and can be calculated by multiplying earned runs by 9 and dividing by the innings pitched.  For example:  If a pitcher has pitched 28 innings over several games and has given up 9 earned runs, you would multiply 9 x 9 = 81 and divide by 28 for an ERA of 2.89.
