Based on a question I posted regarding green cards, I conducted a small social experiement.?

A successful woman who is working in her garden is asked if she has a green card- and done so based on her skin color and a garden working Latino stereotype.

So, I gathered information on 20 men (just happen to be men)that have been known to call INS or question legality of latinos they encounter. I then asked them in informal situations (grocery stores, library, bars...) if they had a green card because they appeared appeared like stereotypical Canadians... ie.. white.

A few of the responses:

1. It's not the same thing,

2. I'm not canadian, but even if i was, they don't count.

3. Traitor

4. Liberal pig

5. Do you have a green card? You look like a mexican.

The lack of a green card is not an indication of immigration status. One thing an illegal alien and myself have in common is the fact that we both do not have green cards. I do not have the need for a green card and the illegal alien does not have the desire for one.

To answer the question, I think that the likelihood of anyone going out and conducting such a poll is limited to say the least, therefor the answers would, in turn, be just as suspect.

I did the same experiment and the responses were the opposite of yours ; )

Understand the plight and walk in the shoes.  Fact is, many Americans despise Latino immigrants -legal or not- because they don't have the same appearance.  Why do you think the Canadian boarder is wide open- and that is where the 911 terrorists entered, not from the south.
