My basement has french drains. Can I put down any kind of flooring I want? Do I need to leave the "border" exposed?

  1. Usually the border is left uncovered with a screen or mesh like material over it

  2. Actually I need More information.  Do you have an existing cement floor down now.  French drains are installed to collect water under foundations or to collect water from weep holes in cement block.  There are various products on the market to be used as a vapor barrier on dirt or stone before cement is poured.  6 mil plastic sheet works just fine.  I run a foundation waterproofing company.  drop me a line if I can offer any further assistance
