Question:

Basement dilemma: drain line trap?

I am installing a sump pump pit in my basement. The reason why is because the floor drain is actually backing up and flooding my basement. This is due to the farmer in the surrounding field raising his drain tiles. Now water that floods his fields has a perfect path into my basement. I dug the pit right over the drain line and i was wondering if directing the drain line into the pit and capping it off would be a good or bad idea....???? That way at least i could access it, as opposed to just cutting it off and burying it. Could the line bust due to pressure? The line originally had a trap on it, if i direct the line into the pit, should i put a trap on it anyways, as a just in case kind of thing for gases and such if i decide to uncap it?
