Basement to attic fan.?

The start of this sounds pretty obvious, my basement remains relatively cool throughout the day (65-70 degrees) my main floor gets to about 80 degrees, and my attic is 90+ degrees, if I were to run an insulated ducted fan, and filter from my basement area, through a closet to my attic to blow down would it help?

  1. yes and invest in humidifyer!

  2. Install an attic fan to vent hot attic air out, thus drawing cool air up through the house from the basement - no ducting required!

  3. Depends on the outside air temp.  If it is hot outside the air from outside will eventually have to come in to fill the void from removing the air from your basement.  Attic fans do work great I am from the south and we often use them in the spring and fall when the outside temp is pleasant

  4. If you have a forced air furnace you can just run the fan without the burner and do the same thing.  There is probably a button somewhere to do it.

  5. your basement will stay cool for only so long before it heats up,basement air is usually very damp and you don't want to be putting damp air into the attic,or do you want to heat the basement with the attic air??? either way not a good thing to do, invest in a DE HUMIDIFIER this will remove excess moisture from the basement air and warm things up,a humidifier will only add to the dampness problem and may even cause mold and fungi to develop in your basement
