I just bought a house and the basement window wells are full of garden mulch and leaves. Is this going to cause a problem? How far should it go below the window? Thanks

  1. I would remove all debris and keep clean. Adding 3/4" stone at a depth of 3" or so below the window would be reccomended. I strongly would suggest well covers and this will keep all rain, leaves etc. out and will not be so time consuming to keep clean. Heavy rains can fill wells and leak into your basement (this just happend to a friend 2 weeks ago)

  2.   Clear that well out put some kind of rock down in its place about 4 inches below the window itself the rock will allow water to drain through but you must clean any other debris out as needed

  3. i would dig it out and replace with crushed rock, which would allow drainage
