say the lead runner hurt himself trying to score and is tagged out before he reaches home, but the batter makes it to third. Runners that were on 1st and 2nd are right behind lead runner since they can't pass him.

  1. No, if any force out happens on the play, then the batter would get a fielder's choice. Since the runner from 3rd is forced to advance to home, and he is put out before reaching home, its considered a force out. Therefore there is no hit credited to the batter, just an inning ending fielder's choice.

  2. No because their is no way the batter will make it to 3rd on time, but if he did it wouldn't count because he inning would be over.

  3. He might get a triple... he at least gets a double, if he gets to third before the throw gets in it might be a triple. If he gets to third because of the throw its a double. It's a hit either way, not a fielders choice.

  4. No cause he didn't get on base.

  5. It's scored a fielder's choice.  Since the lead runner is FORCED to get to the next base and never gets there then you can't give the batter a hit.

If the runner going from 1st to second got hurt and never made it to second it would be scored the same way and since there were already two outs then neither run would count even if they scored before the runner was tagged.

  6. yes

  7. It's still a hit....for example...if a batter rounds first, goes to 2nd, then gets caught in a run-down between 2nd and 3rd and gets tagged out regardless of how many outs there are....it's still a hit...take that to the bank!

  8. dj, you're incorrect. It's simply a force out - no hit.

Can't believe the number of people who will answer a question they know absolutely nothing about.

  9. The batter gets nothing. This is because a runner forced to advance was retired before reaching the base he was forced to.

  10. Wow, confusing description.  So ill answer your circumstance in it's exact.

We'll from what i read, the lead runner lost his wheels rite before he reached home.  The batter who hit the ball is already at 3rd.  And there are still two runners between third base and the guy who have broken down and no one has scored yet.

We'll I think it would be ruled a double and reached third on the throw. THe throw being the one that tags out the guy who is hurt.  The other two gusy behind the guy who was just tagged out would be tagged out too i guess.

But heres the thing, if the injured guy at home us already out, then the two baserunner can actually proceed to come home.  From then on, it would be a judgement call on the player's behalf.  Personally i would elect the new lead runner to trot home.  Have the guy behind him to run back to third and tell the guy who was already at third to run back to 2nd.

    My opinion :)

But overall to answer your question.  It would be a double and advance to third on the throw.
