Question:

Basic Camcorder problem...cables?

I have a canon zr800 camera I also have a sony trv280. On the sony i just use a firewire cable to hook it up to the computer. But this new camera has a weird like u shape slot i tried looking it up but is there a way i can hook it up to a usb slot maybe using another adaptor......??

  1. The DV port on the Digital8 TRV280 and the DV port on the Canon ZR800 are the same. If you are using the correct DV ports, you can use the same Firewire (IEEE1394a, i.Link - all the same thing) cable to transfer the video from the camcorders.

    On the TRV280, the DV port is on the right side of the camera, just in front of the tape drive door mechanism under the plastic/rubber cover along with the AV and USB ports.

    On the ZR800, the DV port is under the rubber cover near the top  of the camcorder on the right side.

    USB will not work.
