When you are sick and you have to take a day or two off for work, does it call a sick-day off? what's the term? my english is bad and I don't know what is it call

In some societies they say 'take sick leave for a day or two';

in others, they would say 'take MC for a day or two'. MC means medical certificate given by the doctor. :-))
