Basic mendelian genetics, relatedness to f1 and terms of percent genes shared pic or graph appreciated?

Me and my friend were having an argument about genetic relatedness between sibling plants and parents plants. He thinks that brother and sister are 100% related in terms of genes while I try to tell him that we receive 50% random genes from each parent giving each next generation plant only a 50% relatedness if pollinated by non in-bred plants.

Can someone find me some concrete evidence from a reputable source backing up all these facts which I am 100% sure are true.

How do you take into account higher frequencies of dominant to recessive genes, as those work at a 3:1 ratio. Can you also have two dominant genes with a different phenotype end in a frequency of 50%?

This is basic genetics people, plants and animals are same I just need an answer

  1. Just take a look at Gregor Mendel's work more correctly at the law of segregation and the law of independant assortment.

  2. Hmm, I believe you are right about inheriting 50% of random genes from parents.  If brothers and sisters had the same genes at 100% they would be identical twins. Have you asked your science teacher about your question?
