  1. Altimeter  Shows altitude

Attitude indicator (also known as an artificial horizon) shows if the wings are straight and if the nose is above or below the horizon.

Airspeed indicator  shows speed in knots

    Magnetic compass

Heading indicator  (Also known as the directional gyro, or DG. Sometimes also called the gyro compass)

Displays the aircraft's heading with respect to magnetic north.

Turn and bank indicator, turn coordinator or turn indicator-shows direction and rate of turn.

Vertical speed indicator -shows rate of climb or descent in Feet per minute.

  2. Basic six:

Airspeed, Attitude Indicator,  Altimeter, Turn and Bank (or Turn Coordinator), Heading Indicator, Vertical Speed Indicator.

  3. Here are the 6 basic (maybe 7) in a Cessna 152.

Airspeed Indicator: Obviously measure airspeed. Measured in knots.

Attitude Indicator/Artifical Horizon: Show pitch and bank in degrees.

Altimeter: Measures altitude. Measured by MSL (mean sea level).

VSI (Vertical Speed Indicator): Shows feet per minute that you are ascending or decending.

Heading Indicator: Sort of like a compass, but it is gyro. Shows your heading. (direction of aircraft)

Turn Coordinator: Show standard bank and there's a ball you're supposed to keep centered using yaw.

VOR: Navigation tool. I'm not going to get too specific.

  4. The BASIC Flight Instruments are:

Airspeed, Needle/Ball (Turn and bank), Altimeter, Compass and a clock/watch with a second hand.

    All else is gravy

  5. Altimeter

    Air Speed Indicator

    Gyro Horizon

    Direction Indicator

    Vertical Speed Indicator

    Compass

  6. If you are asking what you need to have ( regardless of fars) airspeed ind.  compass    some type of fuel ind.   slip ind.   Daytime and nice weather only of course.

  7. How about minimum required for day vfr? Tachometer for each engine, Oil temp gauge for each engine, Manifold pressure gauge for each engine, Oil pressure gauge for each engine, Fuel gauge, Airspeed Indicator, Altimeter, Magnetic direction indicator, Landing gear position indicator, Anti collision lighting system....

Wanna fly at night, add position lights, a landing light, an adequate source of electrical energy, and spare fuses if your airplane is equipped.

Wanna fly ifr? Add Two way radio communication and navigation equipment suitable for the route to be flown, a Gyroscopic rate of turn indicator, a slip-skid indicator, a sensitive altimeter, a clock with a sweep second hand or a digital display, a generator or alternator of adequate electrical capacity, gyroscopic pitch and bank indicator (ai) a gyroscopic direction indicator, and if you wanna go above fl240, dme... Lots and lots of basic instruments depending on what you wanna do

  8. We pilots sure come up with ways to make things sound complicated huh? It's just that we don't want you to see how simple it all really is for fear the public will no longer worship our amazing flying abilities.

For flying in clear weather and good visability, there are only two required basic flight instruments. Altimeter and airspeed indicator. As I read the question you were asking for basic flight instruments, not engine instruments, beacons, lights, navigation equipment, radios, etc. Those are the two basic flight instruments. If you fly at night, they have to be lit.

  9. Altimeter: The altimeter measures the altitude of the plane. This instrument uses the fact that as the plane gains altitude the air preasure decreases. The instrument can sense th air preassure and the change in the preassure. So as the plane rises the preasure decreases and the altimeter senses it and shows it.

Vertical Speed Indicator: The vertical speed indicator shows weather the plane is moving up or down. It does this through measuring the change in air preassure.

Airspeed Indicator: The airspeed indicator shows the speed which the plane is moving through the air. This speed is not nessarily the ground speed which can vary with the wind direction and velocity.

Heading Indicator: The heading indicator is used to give the heading of the plane. It is not magnetic it runs on a gyro. Because of this the indicator must be set to the compass before every flight.

  10. TOMATO FLAMES

    FLAPS

    GRABCARD

If you know what those mean, you can fly planes.
