  1. There is also MCRD San Diego by the way..

And I think what the main overall difference  will be that the USMC instills more discipline and pride and honor during boot camp and throughout their tour..

This does not mean the Army does not have these things, it simply means what it states..

You shouldnt be worried who is similar and all that non sense..Your a Soldier and thats all that matters..

  2. Hey, congrats on joining the military.  It shouldn't really matter who thinks who is better, all that matters is that we have many brave men and women willing to go to war to protect our rights and freedom.  Marine Boot Camp is 13 weeks long, and then MCT is about a month, if I'm not mistaken.  And then depending on their job, MOS can last anywhere from a month to 6 months I believe.

    Chris J-

Yeah, for the record, I love my Marine. And I know several women (and men) who like Marines.

  3. There is no comparison between Army Infantry OSUT and Marine Boot.

Army Infantry OSUT is alot harder.

Marine Boot does not train to the level infantry OSUT trains soldiers to.

    .........................................

The real comparison is, Army Basic training and Marine Boot.

    There the difference is:

The Army doesn't really train basic infantry skills in basic.

While Marine Boot, does train everyone in basic infantry skills.

Thats why Marine Boot is longer, the added time, for the basic infantry training.

    .........................................

    BUT:

A Marine who has completed Boot and Infantry School, is more highly

Trained than a Soldier, who has completed Infantry OSUT.

A Soldier recieves 13 weeks and 3 days of training.

A Marine recieves 13 weeks of Boot, plus 7 weeks of dedicated inifantry training.

    .........................................

    But again:

There is not really a point of comparing soldiers out of OSUT to Marines out of Boot and Infantry School.

Since both recieve far more training after they get to thier first duty station.

And again , in thier pre deployment training.

By the time they deploy, they have both recieved the same amount of training.

    .........................................

It used to be, the Marines trainied far more than the Army did.

So a peace time marine infantryman was trained better than a peace time soldier was.

But Iraq and Afghanistan has equaled the training out,

Since both Soldiers and Marines are constantly in training now, post and pre deployment.

  4. army boot camp is like a picnic compared to USMC basic

2 ex army enlisted in the USMC and were placed in my platoon in basic.

Neither made it past the second week

  5. chris j is a dumb gaggle f*****k marine corps boot is 13 weeks long then 29 days of marine combat training for non infantry related mos' then your mos schooling which is generally 10-12 weeks but could be much longer if you have an infantry related mos such as the 03 field or the 5800 field (corrections field i.e. MP) you go to the SOI school of infantry fallowing boot which is 59 days then to your say... mp school which i believe is 12 weeks and at no time will you be with females untill you get to your mos schooling unlike the disgusting fat *** undisiplined (in most cases) army where your with women all the way. put it this way the army has nicknamed a base relaxin jackson referring to Ft. jackson the marines have parris island also hnown as the land that god forgot NUFF SAID

  6. what you are doing osut is by far tougher and longer than marines bootcamp, 15 weeks plus reception and no girls like the marines.

  7. Marine boot camp is 13 weeks, Army bootcamp is 8 weeks, there is a reason that marine corps boot camp is longer, the training is alot more in depth, and better all around

  8. I have a nephew who is a Ranger and a son who joined the Marines.  Don't stress so much about the differences, because each service thinks that "they" are the best.  Congratulations on making a decision to join the military.  So many of our young people today chose to enjoy the freedom our country offers, but not to fight to protect it.  So be proud our yourself and do your very best.

  9. should have gone into naval special warfare... but since its to late become a airborne ranger...

  10. Marines will tell you that they have always been the best and that nothing is worse than Paris Island.  We both do very similar jobs but the Marines are an Expeditionary force as per the Marine Commadant (I know 10,000 Marines are going to disagree with me, but that is why the Marines want to go to Afghanistan out of Iraq because Iraq has lost its expeditionary feel), while the Army is a Theater Campaign force.

Marines are more shock troops and are well suited for that.  The Army is in it for the long haul and is well suited for that.

Once again, no Marine will ever say you are anywhere near to being as qualified as they are.  Take it for what it is worth and do your job.  Respect all services and follow the lawful orders of those in command and you will serve your country well.

    Congratulations on joining.

  11. You answered your question in the first line...basic training vs. boot camp.  The USMC is the only branch of the service that has 'boot' camp.  We don't call it basic for a reason.  It's 13 weeks of h**l and there is no better place than on the Island to experience it (Parris btw, not Paris).  There is MCRD San Diego too, but Hollywood Marines get to look at bikini's all day (LOL to all you HW Marines out there).

There is nothing harder than Marine Corps Boot Camp...this is why we are "The Few, The Proud".  Being in the army and learning to shoot isn't the same as being an 0311 in the USMC...no way, no how...

Remember what army stands for...Ain't Ready to be a Marine Yet.
