  1. I came to the right question!  I love tennis.. I am not pro but I have played for a long time.. well basics.. for instance.. start wth the forehand and the grip.. you really need to go get like book or look online for pictures to show the kids!!  start with the simple forehand.. the basic motion of it.. and then teach the backhand.. and wait till they get it.. those are 2 out o 4 storkes in tennis.. the others are the sereve and of course the volley get a how to video someone has to have that.. go to the bookstore its cheaper problably then buying off the USTA website.. get a video and how to book.. I work with kids and they need a visual like pictures and video to grasp it!!

good luck!! and hope it goes well!

  3. Well, i'm a tennis player and currently go to a tennis camp. Is the tennis camp FOR the kids in the daycare? If so, here are a few basics to get young kids started:

    1. Grip: Spend some time explaining the correct way to hold a raquet. Tennis raquet grips are sort of octagonal in shape. Putting the raquet face up, count to the second panel going to the right and aling your index finger knuckle to the panel. This is a continental grip.

    2. Forehand: You are going to have to have a lot of patience to teach the kids the forehand and backhand strokes. A forehand should just be holding the raquet with the right hand (or left if left-handed) and swinging at the ball.

    3. Backhand: For the backhand you should hold the raquet with both hands. Just like the forehand, but put one hand on top of the other and swing. The hands should not have a gap betweeen them.

    4. Serve: To serve, just aling feet and shoulders to the right post (or left if left-handed). Just toss the ball straight up towards the post, letting go of the ball at eye level, and swing towards the post. This creates an easy spin serve.

These are just the basics to help you get an idea of what you can tell them to do. To practice the forehand and backhand strokes just toss them balls from a distance to them and have them hit at them trying to get them to go in on the other court. It takes a lot of practice and patience. Encourage the kids a lot and praise them everytime even if its not a good shot.

Other things you could teach them are the rules, scoring, and ettiquette. You can learn these easily on the internet or in a book. Hope this helped. =)
