Former Pakistani Test cricketer, Basit Ali, has said that the management of Pakistan cricket team must persevere with the out of form Shoaib Malik, and said that the former captain can still prove to be an asset for the Green Shirts.
Malik was out of International cricket since the controversial tour of http://www.senore.com/Cricket/England-c56013 last year, and the integrity committee of the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) did not clear him till August, 2011.

However, Basit still has confidence in the ability of Malik and said that it is just about one good innings and the right-hander will be back to his best. Malik has been a match-winner for Pakistan over the years in limited overs cricket and he is only 29

Basit expressed, “Shoaib is a quality player. He seems to be really low on confidence right now but that can all change with one good innings. I believe he'll be back to his best form if he is persisted with. Pakistan must persevere with Shoaib Malik”.
While talking about the inconsistent performances of Umar Akmal, Basit is of the opinion that the young batsman is extremely talented and he should be given the confidence to play all the three formats of the game. Basit suggested that the team management
should give Umar an opportunity to bat higher up the order.
