Basit Ali happy with improving Indo-Pak relations – Cricket News Update
Former Pakistan batsman, Basit Ali, is all praise for the Chairman of Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB), Zaka http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Ashraf-c46397, for enhancing relations with the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI).
The neighbouring countries will play a bilateral limited-overs series in December 2012, after a gap of almost five years. On top of that, http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Sialkot-c842 Stallions, Pakistan’s domestic T20 champions, will take part in the Champions League
T20 2012, which will be held in http://www.senore.com/Cricket/South-Africa-c757 in October.
While talking to Pakpassion, the former middle-order batsman expressed that having friendly relations with the BCCI is imperative for Pakistan, India being the emerging superpower of the sport.
The former player from Karachi is of the opinion that India can help the resumption of international cricket in Pakistan.
Basit said, “If we are able to form a strong relationship with http://www.senore.com/Cricket/India-c750, a high profile series will bring publicity. This can only have a positive impact on the aim of bringing international cricket back to Pakistan, particularly given
India dominates world cricket.”
Commenting on http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Pakistan-c755’s recent performances during the tour of Sri Lanka, the 41-year-old cricket analyst is disappointed with the fast bowler, Umar Gul’s showings, who failed to make an impression in the Island and has been quite
inconsistent throughout the year.
The former cricketer believes that the fast bowler should have been dropped for the upcoming series against Australia in http://www.senore.com/Cricket/United-Arab-Emirates-c3033 (UAE), urging the selectors to give a lesson to Pakistan’s spearhead. The Peshawar-born
fast bowler picked up just one scalp in the two Tests he played on the tour and was ineffective in the limited-overs encounters as well.
Basit however, praised the middle-order batsman from Karachi, Asad http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Shafiq-c89281, and feels that the right-hander should be played in all three formats.
“With http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Asad-Shafiq-c46208 should definitely play T20 and
ODI matches. He should bat number four in both format and in next five years he will develop into an outstanding batsman.”
