At our school we have a basketball team and there are many good girls in our school. ( By the way it is a 7th and 8th grade team.) I am very nervous and made 2 callbacks so far/all of them. Tomorrow there is going to be one more tryout/4th tryout. I am really nervous because it is the last night for tryouts and i have to give it my best. Also, that night the team is going to be posted. I am nervous and this mean everything to me!!! Any suggestions on how to get more calm and do my best. Also any ideas on how not to me intimidated by the 8th graders? (I am a 7th grader)

THANKS!!

  1. just practice alot instead of being in da computer and just do your best.

And about not getting intimidated just show them tah u can be better than them, and if you are then you have a pretty good chance to get respect.

but thje most important thing is DO YOUR BEST and dont listen to bullies

    well i hope that woked

  2. try try your best

  3. well, dont be worried about eighth graders, theyre cool with 7th graders, its just 6th graders that they dont like.  well, out of tryouts, do drills, practice dribbling around, shooting, passing. what people usually look for it teamwork, so dont be a ball hog. everybody gets nervous with stuff like this, just dont think about, just think about the game, nothing else

  4. All i can say is be like Nike and just do it! Take a deep breath and do your thing. Intimidation is all in the mind, if you can play be confident and everything else will fall in to place. Good luck!

  5. Hey dont sweat it! I am a Freshman on the Varsity basketball team. I remember my 7th grade year. The tryouts were pretty easy for me. ( I ran cross country for a year already...Ive been running Varsity since the middle school) I know that when you stay in shape, the tryouts are really easy. And  the way I calmed down was listening to happy, slow paced music and humming. But Ive found out its alot better to be excited! I hope this helps you! Good luck!!

  6. well if you made it to callbacks then your obviously good. just get a good nights sleep. Just remember that the majority is probably nervous as well even if they say they arn't. Some of them might be intimidated by you. just don't let it show. have some confidence and you'll do fine.

  7. If you have made it this far, you must be pretty good. and if there are 7th and 8th grade teams, there is no need to be intimidated by the 8th graders. If they act snotty towards you, they're probably nervous as well, or intiminated by you. :D

Just treat the tryout like a practice.

Try your best and continue to pay attention and if you happen to be having an "off" day, dont let it discourage or frustrate you.

Things to do to calm down include listening to music, talking to friends about something else(just not during tryouts), breathing exercises, and stuff like that.

    good luck.

  8. Just remember that everyone gets nervous and no one really knows that you are. Act as if you are not, have some confidence and do your best.

    Hope that helps, Jasmine

  9. I'm also trying out for a 7/8 basketball team. im also in gr 7 Here's some of the things that i do to keep calm and not be intimidated. First, just remember, you're there to have fun, not be the best.

Second, don't be afraid of the 8th graders. they r ppl 2 they r just older when you pratice in partners, go up 2 a gr. 8 and say can i be your partner? it works it shows the other players and coaches that u r not afraid to play. it worked with me. just go have fun and if you dont make it at least u tried also have a good attitude encourage other tryoutees by saying things like nice shot and good try! that can really impress the coaches as well as making you feel better

If u dont make it go to the games and practices to show the team u rnt mad because they  made the team and you didnt.

    Good luck!!
