Is that a proper basketball shot? yes or no? can you please rate it out of 10 and i am wondering why I can't get enough range to shoot behind the free throw extended? Should I workout?

  1. In my opinion theres no rightway to shoot a basketball, only wrong ones.

Your way is fine, but I would recommend a shorter release stroke.  It seems like you're shooting these basketballs 12 feet into the air.  And also it seems like a slower release which opponents can quickly get accustomed to.

I also noticed your layup and it almost seem lke you were shooting with two hands which is ok.  But I would recommend one handed layups, it gives you more control of where the ball is and you can hold it away from the defender easier.

Its all about practicing your shots that matter most.

  2. you have a nice follow through. but don't start so low. cause wen u go up to shoot ur elbow comes out and ur shot gets off. make sure u bend ur legs. that's where a lot of ur power comes from. u need to have ur ball, elbow, and knee in a line lined up with the center of the basket.it takes practice and if you practice it enough your muscles remember and you don't have to think about it. other than that it looks fine.

  3. Thanks for posting that video.  Otherwise, this question would be unanswerable.  Here are a few thoughts from a shooting coach.

A few times, it seemed that your off hand turned to help push the shot.  That needs to be eliminated.  The palm of that hand needs to stay sideways to the basket.  A number of times, I noticed your forearm slipping into a diagonal position as you lifted the shot.  Likely, those shots were misses to the left.  Think of a window in your home.  It can only go up and down because it sits in a window track.  Place your forearm in that "window track" and keep it there.  The line of your forearm must stay pointed to the center of the hoop.  Notice when it slides across your face and how you miss to a side when that happens.  Make sure that you shoot the ball with your first finger every time.  Make sure that you hold your follow through until the ball hits the basket EVERY time.

To increase your range, get more power from your legs and lift the ball from stomach level very quickly.  Also, be sure to lock your elbow in a straight position every time.  Don't leave it bent, not even slightly.

  4. Technically it looks fine, nice follow through, though it takes you a while to set up, so you have to always be mindful of your feet and bending your legs. Lots of power and range come from your legs and the extension when you "jump" for the jump shot. though it is rarely a jump actually, it is more of an extension. So sure, work out, but not only your arms, wrists and forearms, but your quads and calves too. This will extend your jump a little more fully and provide you a little more power. Watch videos of Michael Jordan in particular, he was a MASTER at planting his feet well before a shot and perfect full body extension. Again, just remember in a game you will not have so much time to set up, so figure out a way to quickly get your feet in place, toes to the basket, extend well with your legs, quads and calves, and follow through with your wrists, which already looks nice. Quick Quick Quick, you gotta set up, focus, extend and release much much more quickly. Good luck.

  5. It's a pretty good form. But just a recommendation, when you get ready to shoot, don't start too low, people can swat the ball away before you shoot.
