Basketball Special Report: The top ten oldest players in the 2009-10 NBA season
The 2009-10 NBA season, provided us with an exciting end. NBA finals, that was full of curiosity till the very last game. Eventually, saw the Lakers come out on top defeating the Celtics. However, here we will be discussing the top ten oldest players of the past 2009-10 seasons.
Their age however, has not prevented them from playing. The hard training sessions they take part in, are no different from what the youngsters do. However, one of the reasons of them still playing may be the handful amount of money they receive as salaries.
Number 10 in this list of oldest players, is occupied by Theo Ratliff who is 36 years old. He was born in Demopolis, Alabama, on 17th April 1973. The past season saw him play in his 15th NBA season. Ratliff is a part of the San Antonio Spurs now, making it the 7th NBA team, in which he has played till now. He averages 12.6 minutes of basketball every night and averaged 3.6 points and 3.2 rebounds. Now he has joined the Lakers for the next season.
Next in the line is Jason Kid of the Mavericks, who was born in San Francisco, California on the 23rd of March, 1973. The 6’4 point guard is a future hall of fame inductee; he took part in his 16th season as an NBA player and the third with his current side. The immense amount of talent that the point guard has, he could continue to entertain us for a couple of more years. However, the superstar is having problems due to health that might ultimately lead to his retirement.
Another player from San Antonio Spurs, belonging to Melrose Park, Illinois, Micheal Finlay was born on 6th March 1973 and is in at number 8. He completed his 15th season in the NBA and the fifth season with his current NBA team, the Spurs. He provided the core for the Spurs, won the title and is also known for his good shooting abilities.
Born on February 7th, 1973, in Chicago, Illinois Juwan Howard, 36, part of Portland Trail Blazers comes in at number 7. Howard was popularly known as a part of the “fab five” in the University of Michigan. He played in his 16th NBA season but in the last two years hasn’t played more than 50 games. The team he played for was, Portland Trial, it was his 6th season for the team. It can however be said that the early part of his career was more successful in which he enjoyed great deal of glory and fame.
Kevin Ollie, of Oklahoma City Thunder Born on December 27, 1972, in Dallas, Texas is in at 6 at the age of 36 years. Kevin’s participation this season made it the 13th NBA season of his career. Surprisingly the season saw Kevin play with his 12th team during his career in the NBA. Never a regular, he doesn’t have much to offer to the Thunders. His experience and presence in the locker room however may prove vital, as the young players would have something to learn.
Grant Hill with Dallas, Texas as his birth place was born on 5th October 1972. He plays for the Phoenix Suns and is the 5th slot player under the title. Grant Hill who is 37 bagged his 16th NBA season. His performance attracted many during the early stages of his career. However, injures sidelined not him but also his chances of being in the Hall of Fame, for which he was on course according to many.
Kurt Thomas of the Milwaukee Bucks was also born in Dallas on 4th October 1972. At the age of 37 played his 15th season and as part of his current team which was his 7th team. He managed to stay fit for a full complete season in 2008-09 and played in 79 games. With impressive rebounding abilities is still an exciting player to watch.
Milwaukee Bucks was born in Newark, New Jersey, on the 6th of March 1972. Shaq seems to come in every list when it comes to fame in the NBA. The Cleveland Cavaliers player currently 37 years of age played for the Lakers where he enjoyed a lot of fame winning titles. He also won a title being a part of Miami heat in. He finished his 18th season in the NBA with the Cavaliers, which was his 5th team so far. This extraordinary, gigantic player scares and leaves the opponents destroyed.
Brent Barry at 37 lies in the 2nd spot. He was born in Hempstead, New York on 31st December 1971. The Barry brothers couldn’t match the likes of their father Rick Barry, who was a great player. Brent Barry won 2 titles with the Spurs in 2005 and 2007. He is more popularly remembered for his win in the dunk competition in 1996, though he jumped off the foul line to dunk.
Lindsey Hunter took birth on December 3, 1970, in Utica, Mississippi and playing for the Chicago Bulls is at the top of the list. He being at the age of 38 played in his 18th season as a NBA player. This was his second season at the Bulls. The first season at the Bulls was majorly highlighted by injuries. He doesn’t play much, and averages around 9 minutes per night. Hunter however when playing can be one of the most strong defensive players and his ability of being able to play against anyone is one that is greatly appreciated.
