okay so everytime i play againts a school team...i tend to THINK alot and not enjoy the game, which makes my gaming ability to be sucky (coz i do A LOT of thinking you know)....and i always think that i should do this and do that...so my coach wont yell at me in front of all the people watching the game...and i dont believe in myself anymore...i always get scared attacking the basket...unlike 3 yrs ago...i LOVED attacking the basket and no one could stop me that time...i always wanted to get the respect that i used to get 3 yrs ago...like people fighting over me just to be in their team and people praising my skills...

even now..im going to be a junior this school year...i still dont believe in myself...and i dont think that i wil be able to make the varsity team...

I need help...

  1. well, then first of all you need to get confidence and believe in yourself. HOW THE HECK are u going to do anything if you dont? if your friends say you suck at basketball then they obviously suck at encouragement. "When someone says you cant do something, you fight back, you prove them wrong."

you can be good again. but you HAVE to believe in yourself.

    work out longer and harder.

play harder than you have ever played.

believe in yourself more than you ever did...and make a comeback.

like i said, you can be good.....great. you just have to believe in yourself again.

  2. Yes I have been through this. 2 years of it actually...

You just have to listen to yourself. Other people don't matter. They don't have the same goals and aspirations as you, don't listen to them. It's that simple.

You are only as good as you think you are. If you think you suck, you're gonna suck. If you think you're good, you're gonna do a lot better then if you think you suck.  So have confidence in yourself.

You have to practice everyday. I'd say about 1000 shots a day to be a great player. I wouldn't take any from beyond 10 feet the first couple weeks. All of this practicing will give you confidence in yourself. And you gotta stick to it no matter how much you don't want to. FINISH NO MATTER WHAT. NO MATTER WHAT. (Did I make myself clear?)

Always remember that success isn't gradual. You're going to fail a lot before you get to where you want to go. For example.  Some days I shoot the lights out in my driveway, then the next day I don't make nearly as many. This doesn't bother me because I know I'm getting better. It's just a process. I never think about any shot I miss, only the ones I make.

Michael Jordan said he would spend 15 minutes after every game and  think about his mistakes, but he never thought about them again.

Something that really helps me to be positive is write down 10 positive things I did that day.

It might be hard to come up with 10 but thats ok. Sometimes I had to write, "My shorts matched my shirt," but thats okay. It's really going to help you think positively.

  3. don't listen to what other people say, even if they are your friends. listen to what you say. you LOVE attacking the boards so do it and you know yourself that you can. dont worry about pleasing other people who are watching you play. play for you and no one else. contribute to your team by playing the best you can and if you make a mistake dont think about it, just do it next time you get the ball and if you cant its okay. michael jordan never made his middle school basketball team. he didnt think about his mistakes in tryouts, he kept doing what he knew he could do and now look! you could do the same

  4. Jus go to da rec more!!!! it helps you have fun and play the game more agressive...youll also learn different skills from the people around you...thats wat i do...
