  1. Correct. It was started in Canada so it would be considered Canadian.

But the average Canadian is not into basketball much as our neighbours to the South. Even though it was invented in Canada, i'd let the USA claim it as their own.

  2. Well it was invented in Massachusetts.

  3. Well, it was invented BY a Canadian, but he invented it at a YMCA in, I believe, Springfield, Massachusetts.  So, you decide whether it is Canadian or US.  Maybe both.

  4. Actually, the ancient Aztecs were the first people to play basketball. Only they played one on one and the loser was beheaded!

  5. Inventor was Canadian, but he was in the US when he put it all together.  I'd still say it was a Canadian invention because it was built with Canadian knowledge.  If he was merely born in Canada but lived most of his life in the US, then I would feel differently.

I always wonder if that's why basketball is played in a gymnasium.  Jim-nais-ium. Hmmm ...

  6. invented in america, therefore, it is american

does not matter what was the person's origin or ethnicity. if i created a soda in nyc, but i am from france, does that mean the soda was created in france??
