  1. Its good to know that you changed your shot, because when the elbow is out, your shot will be horrible. it will probably help a lot more if your right arm is aline with your right leg. so when you shoot your right foot should point STRAIGHT at the hoop, so when you shoot your arm is aline with your leg and your shot will be more accurate. now just remember to put a lot of arc on your shot. to maintain consistancy on your shot you should practice shooting from in close to the basket and just work on form and swish every shot. after maybe 50 shots your shooting will feel automatic. this is just how i was taught to shoot, and it works great. everybody has different shooting forms, so just use what works for you. but i would recommend trying to shoot like this because it is really consistent.

  2. well how old are you? if you are a young baller then trust me i wouldnt even worry about your form too much, instead just work on other important skills like handles, passing, driving to the basket, absorbing contact and finishing... trust me it really doesnt matter how your shot looks, it's if you hit em or not. and plus when your body changes (getting taller, longer arms, stonger arms/legs) your shot will need to change so dont focus on how your jumper looks, your probably  shooting fine.

  4. It sounds like what you have going is working for you.. one of the most important parts of a shot is your wrist and as long as that isnt going left or right when you release I think your shot is pretty solit

  5. You should draw more fouls with the shot you are using.  A key to your shot is to have the same rotation each time.  It the point of practice:  get the little things down. Try shooting with your new form and NOT dribbling before the shot.  I will save you time from receiving the ball and launching your shot.  It is a habit you rarely see even among good players who take an "automatic dribble" before shooting.  Bad habit.

  6. you don't need it 90 degrees, but keep it close to your side...

When you have the ball by you head, your elbow should touch or almost touch you side... at least thats how i do it... I admit i'm not the best shot, but meh...

It should feel natural to you tho, and thats an important part...

  7. Well, you haven't gotten far by ignoring your English teacher. Perhaps you should listen to your basketball coach. There's a reason why there is a standard form for things. A lot of smart people who really know what they're doing looked at what works and what doesn't. You're accurate, but sloppy. If you're NBA caliber, do your own thing and no one will care. You might earn a nickname, but if you get 99% of your free-throws, no one is going to say "If you held your arm like this, you'd get that extra 1%"

Until you're playing college ball and some scouts are fighting over you, I'd take ever bit of advice I could and follow it like the law.

  8. same problem everyone has. u feel comfortable shooting the way your used to shooting. just keep practicing the new way until u get used to it. it'll feel comfortable eventually. i didnt fix my form until the 2nd semester of my freshman year in college. it took awhile but now i have a nice form and real nice touch. shoot ALOT of free throws to start. it'll help if u fix your form
