Basketball speech help?

For English I have to do a speech, and since I absolutely love basketball it's an obvious topic. But what should I write a speech about?

As much as I'd love to make a speech on the New Orleans Hornets my teacher has said that we should avoid the speech sounding like a talk. (ie. this is my favourite team and I'm going to tell you about them, etc.)

I was thinking about doing a speech on Tim Donaghy and what he's done, and tying that up with maybe the alleged rigging of the WCF between the Kings and the Lakers, or the ghost calls on D-Wade in the 06 Finals.

Suggestions that non-basketball fans would easily understand would be appreciated. Thanks in advance.

i have one and it has to do with the hornets (my second favorite team)

you can talk about how Oklahoma city deserves an nba team for hosting the hornets after hurricane Katrina........... or you can talk about the turnaround that they had from 2 years ago to last year........... hope one of these helps............
