Basketball training?

Im training for the coming basketball season. My shoting is good, great in fact, so i only need to get that down about a month or so before, with shooting about 3 times a week now.

My major problem is running, im a slow runner, i was faster, but i have ran any since last season, now i can only run like for 4 min without stopping to walk.

I run on a treadmil, and it is hard for me to run on there, cause i want to go faster and slower, and faster, cause my running isn't at one constant pace.

My questions:

1. is it hard for any othere basketball players to run on treadmills, or is it just me, maybe its my treadmil

2. Where should i run, cause we don't have track in my town

3. do you have any tips for me to get ready for basketball this year, regaurding: pratice, nutrition, and anything else

about me, im 16, im kinda busy after school cause i work, and i played on varsity last year

  1. It seems that both speed and endurance are issues for you.  Preseason is the time to work on endurance.  Set a goal that you are going to add one minute to that 4 every third day or so.  Another way to build endurance can be to do a 4-min jog, rest, then do another.  Track and field people call this interval training and it is effective.

Building endurance will prepare you for the intensity of the season and the speed work you will have to do then.

  2. just run around the neighborhood 2 build up endurance and keep getting faster every time. u need 2 be able 2 run for a long time for basketball. so just run every day around the neighborhood every day getting a lil bit faster
