Basketballs shooting game for beginners?

Question

I'm doing some sports day events for kids tomorrow (age 8-16)

i'm looking for a simple basketball shooting game for 4+ players needing no more than 2 balls that will give a resulting 1st 2nd and 3rd ranking

would be much appreciated . thanks J

Knock out is a great game to match your description, guy above me's got it right.

One game is knock out

all stand at free throw line in a line and first person shoots, if he makes it, he passes to guy 3rd in line, if he misses second guy must make it in before he makes a lay up, if second guy makes it, then first guy is out, keep on til 1 person is left.

Plus 1, Minus 2

You start at 0. Every time you make a shot you get 1 point. Every time you miss a shot you lose 2 points. The first one to 10 wins. The first one to -10 loses.
