Basnahira v Kandurata – Sri Lankan Cricket Inter-Provincial Twenty20 Tournament - First Innings Recap
In the Sri Lankan Cricket Inter-Provincial Twenty 20 clash, Kandurata posted a sub-standard total of 120 while batting first at the R Premadasa Stadium, Colombo, on 26 July, 2011.
The Kandurata batting was not up to the mark, as Basnahira bowlers bowled exceptionally well to restrict their opponents to a low target.

The first wicket to go down was as early as the 3rd delivery of the innings, where opener, http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Merenna-Koralage-Don-Ishara-Amerasinghe-c75632, for a first ball duck.
The opener’s dismissal placed pressure on the batters. The hosts did not let the visitors settle down.
The next wicket fell on the score of 18, when spinner, http://www.senore.com/Cricket/NT-Paranavitana-c2132. After making 10 from 11 balls, Paranavitana edged a good delivery, where his counterpart showed some good piece of glove work
to remove the opener.
Then it was http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Jehan-Mubarak-c66822 in front of the stumps for 13.
A fifty run partnership then followed between http://www.senore.com/Cricket/MF-Maharoof-c1944, where both played some good attacking shots to break the shackles.
Just as it got ominous, Dilshan struck twice in quick succession, removing both the players. He first took out Maharoof, after the player had had a good knock of 23 off 20 balls, which included 2 boundaries.
In his very next over, the spinner took the dangerous scalp of Wijesinghe, just as Kandurata were reaching the 100 run mark, taking a good caught and bowled chance. The player topped scored with 42, hitting two fours while also striking two hefty blows out
of the park.
The innings then needed late cameos; however, no one could step up with the last five batsmen failing to reach the double figure mark.
After bowling a tight first spell, Amerasinghe was brought back into the attack and he wiped out the lower middle-order.
At the end of their 20 overs, Kandurata could only manage 120, which also included 10 extras by the home side.
The Basnahira bowling was outstanding, with the pick being Amerasinghe. He was exceptional with his line and length, putting up a good show for Sri Lankan selectors.
As for the rest, Dilshan yet again shows his that he is a top performer and a partnership breaker. His 3 scalps were crucial in restricting the visitors to a modest total.
The 34-year-old will be hoping to provide some fireworks when he comes out to bat for Basnahira.
