Basophils and eosiphils?

These blood cells occur in some people and in some they do not, why, what do they mean?

  1. Both of these are found in WBC's (white blood cells).  I would recommend looking each on up re: functionality and morphology.

These cells are in everyone, unless they have some sort of white blood cell depletion disorder.  Basophils are named such due to their basophilicity or love of basic substances or dyes.  They will usually stain a dark purple with hemotoxylin and Eosin ( H & E ) staining.  Eosinophils are acid loving cells, meaning they take up acidic dyes very well and stain a brilliant red color.  These are cells that contain granules which contain certain substances to help clear infections, etc.
