  1. Yes.  Some of the things they sell are good.

A great starter bass or guitar is the Fender Squire series.  They are really well priced and a quality instrument for a starter.  Later you can invest in a more expensive one.

The action (how far the strings are from the fretboard) can be adjusted.  You should be able to take it to a guitar store/music store and have it set-up.  You may want to try that before buying a new one if that is all that is wrong with it.

  2. Gear 4 Music is a good website, but there own brand of guitars is TERRIBLE.

Go for maybe an Epiphone or MIM Fender or Squier (Squier arent the best mind you)

Go to a local guitar shop and ask, they'lle know what you mean =)

Mariam M is totally right by the way NEVER buy an instrument online!

  3. Listen to me: do not buy musical instruments online!!!!!!!!!

Why you ask. You can get everything online.

The problem is that even within one make or model two guitars are not the same. You should never play an instrument until you physically hold it. If you are just learning, go to the music store with someone who does play and have them look at it.

I know you are going to dismiss this answer, but you shouldn't. Please take me seriously.

There are some things you should never by online.

There has got to be a music store or Guitar Center near you.

    PLEASE BELIEVE ME.

  4. stick with the schecter diamond series basses...great quality and awesome sound and kick

  5. Well my best mate brought a guitar and clarinet from them and their just fine, so the website does sell good instruments. when i played bass, my srtings were too far from the fretboard, and it was a stagg bass, so quite expensive, not a begginers bass. on most basses(if not all) then they can be tightened and made closer to the fretboard, so string looseness isn't so much of a problem. bass guitar kits normally aren't very good, as the instruments are aimed at complete begginers, but yeah, gear4music is a good site and sells good instuments.

  6. never buy anything online!!! anyone can make anything and sell it online...go to a music shop and try different basses, see whcih one is for you

Also, you say that the strings are far away from the fret board? you can have it adjusted, its called a truss rod adjustment....go to a music store and have them do it for you.

    Good luck!
