Bass Guitar help?

Question

I just got a bass guitar. But the problem is I don't know anything about bass guitar...I don't know how to tune them, which strings are which, finger positions, etc. I'm completely new at the whole thing and I want to learn to play but I cant find any good free websites that don't include downloading something. So I was wondering if you guys had any suggestions for websites or whatnot.

Also I can't get a teacher to help me in person so...yeah...I'm reduced to online learning...

The best thing you can do is buy a general book on bass guitar. Listen to alot of music and eventaully you'll be able to hear what their playing. by the way tuning is E A D G (thickest to thinnest string)

get an elementary guitar-playing book

seriously, you should have like one or two lessons

a teacher will be able to make sure you don't develop any bad habits and do things correctly

after that, you'll have a better time!

trust me, if you want to play an instrument right, you can't get everything out of the books/online

there are SO many aspects of playing and it is so easy to form these bad habits
