Bass amp settings

I am interested in learning how tho set my bass amplifier to achieve different sounds. When I first bought a peavey amp (in 1986!) it came with a guide for settings that created appropriate sounds for rock, blues, slap, etc. I now play a 1978 Peavey Mark III, and would like some similar information
