  1. Hey RACHEL

If you already know how to play guitar, than I gather that you you know your position and they are basically the same as a Bass.

Don't forget that the frets are farther apart and that you will or might have problems in finger-stretching. But, ifyou keep your hand parallel to the fingerboard, finger-stretch will be much easier.

Just remember to have the correct right-hand position and to practice playing with the first two fingers in an alternate method style.

Use the pick to begin  but eventually, try to practice with the fingers if you plan to gain speed on the bass.

That Squier bass is a good bargain. These bass are well set at the factory but the strings are not of the best quality. If you change later on, buy light gauge strings. They are easier on the neck and on the fingers.

  2. For good & low priced Bass Guitars go with:

    1. Ibanez

    2. Epiphone

    3. Yamaha

    4. Dean...  like the "Dean Custom Zone" one...they even come in Pink & Green colors too.

Hope this helps and good luck
