I have an 85 stang convertible and have a light system. there is 4 speakers powered by an amp and they sound good. they have decent bass output. I was wondering whether or not installing a bazooka tube or something of that effect would give any real boost in performance with the top down and going 75 down the highway? They are 200 watts rms and I have read that they work nicely for rock systems. i think it is a 10 inch.

thanks guys, you all seem to know more than me and this is a great way to prevent an unnecessary investment.

  1. if u wanna get some bass go wit a regular 10 inch sub cause even a little 8 inch sub dat is a good brand can outhit a lil bazooka bass tube so if u want bass go 4 a real sub

  2. I had two 6.5inch bazooka tubes in my 86 Mustang coupe and they sounded excellent. I'm not sure about other brands but bazooka tubes rock. One of the biggest gains in sound quality comes with the addition of a subwoofer because it allows you to remove the bass load from your small speakers so they can reproduce mids&highs without interference from low frequencies. The way you have your system now the small speakers can only be turned up so far before the bass  them make them distort. Does the amp that runs the small speakers have a HPF (high pass filter). If it does you can use it to remove the bass from the small speakers so they can blast. If it does not you can still turn down the bass and make up for it with your amp settings. Adding a sub will help.
